Sri Lanka is one of the finest birdwatching destinations in Asia, sheltering 233 bird species within its compact borders, of which 33 are endemic, found nowhere else on earth. The island’s habitat diversity, from coastal wetlands and dry-zone scrub to montane cloud forests and lush lowland rainforests, supports a variety of bird species across all ecosystems. Our birdwatching experiences are guided by skilled local birders, who know the precise locations, seasonal movements and behavioural patterns of every target species, from the brilliantly plumed Sri Lanka blue magpie and the green-billed coucal to the majestic sea eagle and the delicate purple-faced leaf monkey that shares the canopy with its avian neighbours.
